Arm Tattoo Ideas

Arm Tattoo Ideas

Hi everyone, I have been a part of the tattoo industry for a few years now and in this blog post I will discuss with you a few arm tattoos that I worked on. I hope with these tattoos you get a better idea of what you might be looking for, in any case I am always available for a custom. So, let’s dive in.

In April of 2025, someone reached out to me on looking for a custom. In regards to placement, he wanted the design to be placed on the lower half of his left arm and only wanted one side instead of a full half sleeve.

In regards to the design here’s what he said: “In Greek mythology there is a ferry boatsman (Charon) and people would have to give him coin for safe passage through the river of the dead into the afterlife. I want something with him on the boat and in all black with shading. Pretty much something very metal.” I asked him what he wanted in the background since I was thinking of drawing Charon in the foreground sailing with some hands sticking out of the water.

He said that he liked the idea of arms sticking out of the water, for the background he wanted a forest type setting with a moon in the back. With this I started working on a rough draft and it was ready in a day.

As soon as it was ready I sent it over and my client said that he would prefer a more faceless hooded Charon without a beard. And he wanted the design to be more horizontal since he wanted it to be left to right on his arm. I then started working on the second draft and it too was ready within a day and I sent it over.

He loved the second draft and as soon as I received his approval I started working on the final design. It took me close to 5 days to get the final design ready and this is what it looked like!

Moving onto the next idea I like to call this bird on the back and shoulder. I got to work on this idea in December of 2023. The client was looking for a large bird design that will fit/cover the right upper half of his back and ¾’s the way down his right arm. He wanted color and wanted the design to be based off of a sharp tailed grouse. I got to work and started sketching a rough draft for the idea.

This is the draft that I came up with. The client really liked it however he wanted me to add a hexagon geometric pattern to the design. I then started working on the final design and this is what I came up with.

Now we get to the fourth idea. Someone reached out to me and he wanted his next tattoo to either be a Zeus or a Perseus design. In regards to placement he wanted the design on his arm on top. I started with sketching up 2 rough drafts, one for each and here’s what I came up with.

So my client looked at both drafts and liked the first one more. Also, he told me that he’s adding color to each of his tattoos. He has Medusa with the gold snake and Poseidon with the gold sword. I then started working on the final design. It took me a total of 4 days to get it ready and here’s what I came up with.
